Personal iPhone Photo of the bug on my front door, which is magenta. Color correction from iPhone to website looks more orange than magenta here. This big insect spans a space larger than a quarter. Not being an entomologist, I think this is more likely a “May fly” than a mosquito, unless it is a non-biting Australian elephant mosquito. The wings are cool, which is the reason I took the photo.
