Since Father GOD Knows everything, I could feel foolish telling Him anything. Yet, I myself rejoice in hearing my own child tell me about an adventure, whether or not a sibling already told me that adventure. Who doesn’t enjoy hearing a loved one tell a “remember when” story? Of course, mostly I don’t know already what a loved one will tell me, but I cherish the sharing, even if I do know. I loved hearing my 90-year old mother retell the story of meeting Daddy after he returned from serving in WWII. “When I met James, I knew he was a good man. I did not want him to be hurt by falling in love with me when I might fall in love with someone else. Even so, James kept asking me to go on interesting Austin outings: picnic at the lake, tour of the dam, bluebonnet drive. The others asked me out to the same ole boring thing: dinner, movie, a dance. Well, I did fall in love with James Evans!”
When family members or friends share a hidden part of their lives or tell the story of their greatest challenge, I am honored to be loved and respected enough to hear their narrative. The very act of hearing loved ones tell you about their lives builds relationship, shares memories, and forms connection. You are known by me when I know you.
Our Heavenly Father Wants us to tell Him our concerns because He Loves us. He Desires a relationship with us. Does telling Him our concerns prepare us to hear His Answers, Words from His Heart? JEREMIAH chapter 33 verse 3 in the World English Bible (WEB) quotes What GOD Says, “Call to Me, and I Will Answer you and Will Show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.“
Call to Me? Doesn’t that mean talking with Father GOD? Telling Him about yourself? Seeking His Understanding? Asking for His Help?
Do you remember when telling a trusted loved one about an event in your life eased your concern or stress? How much more does talking with Father GOD release Peace and Joy?
Talking with Father GOD means listening, too.
